Me and my family recently took a trip to this years BEA (Book Expo America) In Washington DC. Here is my report on it.
Friday
When we entered BEA, I was astounded, even though this is my third year. Miles and miles (Ok, maybe not MILES) of booth's stretching as far as the eye can see!
We headed to the Simon and Schuster booth and picked up the first clue in the A Treasures Trove By Michael Stadther contest, which was to win a $3,000 Aaron Basha ring. A little while later, we drifted down to amulet books, very excited about the new sisters grimm book. Unfortunately, Michael Buckley was not signing the problem child until 4:00, so we headed to to the wizards of the coast booth, and took a look at their year of dragons things. Seemed very interesting, they had some new dragonlance, the new adventures books, and some new knights of the silver dragon books, as well as a myriad of D&D equipment. We entered in a raffle for a neat spyglass and eventually headed up to the A Treasures Trove booth to meet Michael Stadther, but he was at lunch, so we picked up clue #2 in the contest, then left and decided to head back later. As a matter of fact, not long after, we decided to have lunch ourselves.
Just after lunch, we headed up for my dad, Nick Ruth, to have an interview with Iparenting Media. He did a very good job, and i even got to go on at the end. At some point, we strolled up to Hyperion books and took a look at Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony and Peter and the Shadow Thieves, and even got a copy of Peter and the Shadow Thieves! Soon after, we headed up to the A Treasures Trove Booth again, and this time, Michael Stadther was there! I met him, talked with him for a little bit, he autographed a Book for me, and showed me the prologue to his new book, which will be released in september, Secrets of the Alchemist Dar. I am looking forward to it greatly. Shortly after that, we headed down to the raffle at the wizards of the coast booth, and i won the spyglass! Sometime after, we headed to the Mom's choice awards, where i met Reese Haller, The 9-year old author of the Fred The Mouse series, Who is very very nice, and he autographed copies of his first two books for me. He was really a great inspiration for me to continue working, and work hard, on stardust, my book.
Saturday
Fairly uneventful. We dropped in our entries for the A Treasures Trove Contest.
Sunday
Moderately uneventful, We Managed to get a copy of The Sisters Grimm: The Problem Child, and went to the A Treasures Trove contest drawing... and were very excited, for... We won!
That is my report on Book Expo America! I hope you enjoyed it.

That sounds awesome!! But what was the "spyglass?" Where is it? Was Erin Hunter doing book signings? And when is the next one starting? I'm interested!

The "spyglass" is basically like a "pirate telescope" from stories. This ones really nice too. Gold and carved wood. And sadly, erin hunter was NOT signing books. And the next what?

Next june.... but sadly, you can only attend if you are one of these: Published author, publisher, Press(reviewer, reporter, etc), Book buyer(for bookstores), librarian, Published book illustrator, book supplier, or someone having to do with a book award. Sorry :(

I may get to go to one, once my book gets published. I may even illustrate someday, maybe when I go to high scool.
