I posted the LA Times festival information on another topic, but I'm copying it here for your convenience:

Unfortunately the only place Vicky will be appearing in LA is the LA Times Book Festival. She will be speaking on a panel on Tween Series Writing with Cornelia Funke and Rick Riordan (I really wish I could go to that!) The panel will be in Korn Hall at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2008. (I think this is at UCLA). Here's a link to the list of panels:

The event is free, but you need a ticket to go. Tickets go on sale on April 20, so if you want to go, make sure to get your tickets early! Tickets are available for free at some Ticketmaster locations, or you will be able to buy them from Ticketmaster.com for a small fee (75 cents). Here's more detailed information about tickets:

Vicky will be signing books after her event in the West Signing Area at the festival. The West Signing Area is "in Wilson Plaza, in between the Men's and Women's Gyms, on Parking Lot 4." (Again, I assume this is at UCLA). She'll be in Line N. Here's more information about the signings:

I think you can go to the book signing even if you don't go to the panel.

According to her schedule above, the signing is from 12:30 – 1:30 pm

In addition, from the schedule above, it looks like she'll be doing a second signing at the festival, from 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm at the Book Soup Bookstore Booth. I don't know where that is, but I assume that when you enter the festival there will be maps and exhibitor lists. Get there plenty early to give yourself time to find where you are going and allow for lines!!!

I can't find the Book Soup Bookstore Booth for the second signing on the map, so you'll have to find it when you get there. But the map does show Korn Hall, where the panel will be, and the "West Signing Area" where the first signing will be. Korn Hall is at the top near the left, and the West Signing Area is just a little bit down and to the left of Korn Hall.

Good luck, and I want to hear reports from everyone who goes to any of the appearances!

I wanted to post one additional note, that Emmy Cherry's grandparents and some other of her family and friends will be attending the Memphis, TN signing to meet Vicky in person. If you meet them, I know that you'll be sensitive and caring and keep in mind that they are still grieving from a terrible tragedy. I know that they'll appreciate any words of support and condolence that you have for them.

I just checked the full schedule she sent me, which includes travel arrangements, and it says "Note: drive time is about 35 minutes" in between those two. That still doesn't quite add up, because if she leaves Memphis right on time, she only has half an hour to make a 35 minute drive. So I guess she'll have to either leave Memphis a few minutes early, or arrive in MS a few minutes late. And that doesn't leave time for a bathroom break, which I personally would need if it were me!
