Wands and Worlds will be temporarily unavailable

Over the last week, Magicyop and I have been seriously considering shutting down Wands and Worlds. Our primary goal in starting this site was to do something that would be fun for both of us, but frankly, lately it hasn't been much fun. Sure, we love chatting with you and playing mafias and discussing the books and RPing, but lately it seems that we spend more time dealing with problems than enjoying the site, and it's starting to feel like it just isn't worth it.

However, we aren't quite ready to let the site go yet; there's still so much here that's good, and we love all of you and would miss you terribly. But it's become clear that as Wands and Worlds grows, we need to make some changes. We had hoped to create a site based on mutual respect, where people behaved towards each other with compassion, respect, and common decency. Neither of us wanted to run a big, commercial site run by rules, like Neopets or Runescape. But it looks like that's what we're going to have to do in order to keep a safe, family-friendly site.

At this point, we don't feel that we can continue the site without updating our terms of service to clarify the rules and consequences, in order to protect both us and our members (protection that we never thought would be necessary). So starting tomorrow, we will be temporarily shutting down Wands and Worlds to give us time to rewrite the terms. I'm not sure how long this will take, but we're hoping that it won't be too long. Please bear with us during this difficult time.

I'm disappointed and frustrated that it's come to this, but frankly, I can't see any other way at this point. Thank you for your understanding.
