Ok, this is what happened.:

It was storming really bad and the electricity got knocked out. It stayed that way for a little over 6 hours. When the electricity was back on I tried to turn on the computer and it only an orange light. I've tried to fix it for a couple of days and it still didn't work so I've been using my dad's computer (my dad's computer is not a very good one ._.). Then my mom decided to get a new one.

That's pretty much it.

Maybe putting the hard drive in another computer? - if something else is the cause of the "deadness." Don't mind me if that's a stupid thing to say. I don't know computers.

Yet another argument for all of us who don't bother to back up very often. Do it, do it, do it.

I'm really sorry you lost all your writing. I'm still one of those people who prints things out - & this is why.

well if you can get it running again, even if it's just for a a few minutes, email all you stuff to yourself, then check your email on the new computer. That's what I do when I want to transfer things.

Btw, what kind of computer was the old one? a laptop or a desktop?

Ok, I'm not the best when it comes to computers, but if I'm right maybe you can unplug the thingy you use to put discs in (Can't remember the real name) and plug it in to you new monitor (If your new computer is a desktop) and maybe you can get your stuff back like that, that is if your disc drive thingy didn't break down as well.

My dad is like a complete computer geek and I think it was him that told me that with desktops the monitor only has a tiny bit of memory and it's the disc drive thingy that holds the rest. but like I said I'm not a genius.
