Ratha's Courage announcement!

Some of you know that in addition to being a co-admin of Wands and Worlds, I also have a small publishing company, Imaginator Press. I'm very excited to announce that Imaginator Press will be publishing Ratha's Courage, The Fifth Book of the Named, by Clare Bell. As many of you know, Clare is a member of this community under the user name rathacat, and she recently joined us for an author chat.

We don't have an official publication date yet, but I'm aiming at October. I'm very excited about this opportunity. The Named is an awesome series, and I'm honored to be a part of it!

Until then, if you haven't yet read the other books in the series, they are:

Our library has the 1st & 3rd ones. I'll get Ratha's Creature from them & go from there.

Yay, Crescentmoon! I hope you enjoy them. The new reprint editions of the first four are published by Firebird Books, which is a division of Penguin/Putnam. There are older editions of the books still in some libraries, so I don't know which ones your library has. I hope it's the reprints because I love the new covers!

I got Ratha's Courage from Webscriptions.net as soon as it came out, and once I did I went to the local library to see which one's of the previous books they had and they only had Ratha's Creature. Boo Hoo, The bookstores are not carrying the books but I could order them. I WANT THEM NOW!!!!!!

If your library doesn't have them, there are two things that you might be able to do:

1. Ask the librarian to get them through Inter Library Loan (ILL). NOTE: This is not the same as getting them from another branch in the same library system. With ILL, they should be able to get them even from another state! It takes a couple of weeks, and there may be a small fee. But if you don't specifically ask for Inter Library Loan, your librarian may not even suggest it.

2. Many libraries have a form that you can use to request that they order books for the collection. In most libraries, patron (that's you) requests are one of the main ways that they decide which books to get! In other words, if enough people ask for the book, they'll often order it. Again, your librarian may not tell you that this is an option, so ask! Ask them what you have to do to request that they add a book to the collection.

There are two keys here. The first one is, be persistent (but polite) and ask for what you want! If the librarian says that they don't have the book, don't accept that as the answer. Ask them, "What can you do to get it for me?"

The other key is to speak "librarian-speak" so that they know what you're talking about. The key terms here are "Inter Library Loan" and/or "can you add it to the collection". These are specific phrases that librarians should know what they mean, so try to use these exact words.
