Nick Ruth reading at the Baltimore Book Burn

Last night, we took part in a local event called a "Book Burn" organized by Brad Grochowski, founder of AuthorsBookshop.com. What's a book burn? Here's what Brad has to say about it on the Book Burn web site:

Forever, the act of burning books has been a symbol of oppression and censorship. We feel that indie books have been effectively censored for many years by the stigma that has been held against indie publishing.

But this is a new age! We are breaking out of the foul reputation of "vanity presses" by publishing truly amazing indie books. And so, just as "indie" has become a badge of honor in the film and music worlds, so too shall it be in publishing... if we have anything to say about it.

Nick did a reading from The Breezes of Inspire and performed part of the theme song. There were two other authors there, who also read from their books, and also a performance by Brad's wife, indie musician sahffi and her sister Shelly. The music was great! And I really enjoyed all the readings. I've posted the video below, if you're interested. Nick is the first one to read after the music, although you might enjoy the other readings as well (and sahffi plays another song at the end). After the performances and readings are over, you'll see us on camera from time to time chatting with other people or just walking across.

Edit: Looks like the embedding didn't work, but you can see the video here:
