Erin Hunter (and Magicyop) in Washington, DC
Yesterday, Nick, Magicyop, and I went to Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington, DC to see Vicky Holmes/Erin Hunter's last appearance on her Sunrise tour. First of all, Politics and Prose is an awesome bookstore, and if you're ever in Washington DC you should visit it!
Vicky gave a great presentation. If you've never seen her, she's a really good speaker - funny and entertaining. She talked about the process of how the books get written, and also a little bit about the future plans for the series, but there wasn't really anything new that the Wandies didn't already know.
She said that there's a rumor going around that Zac Efron has been cast as Firestar in the Warriors movie, and that it's COMPLETELY FALSE! She said that she's been getting a lot of hate mail about it. She said that they are in the very early stages of working on a script for a POSSIBLE movie, but they are a LONG way from any casting. So please don't send her any hate mail about supposed casting decisions!
She said not to believe anything that you hear on the Internet, and that there's only two places to go for true information: Warriorcats.com and WANDSANDWORLDS.COM! That's right! She told people that we have a great site and that it was a good, safe place to go. She even introduced us and had everyone turn around and look at us (I was so embarrassed!)
We even got to meet the real Ivykit! Ivy is the granddaughter of a good friend of Vicky's, and Vicky introduced her to everyone. She's the most adorable little girl you've ever seen. Ivykit was named after her.

Losty, I didn't really check out the political section, but it's Washington, DC, so I'm sure that they do have a lot of political books. They also do a lot of events. Towards the end of Vicky's signing, they started moving the chairs, and said they needed to make space for CSPAN to come in for the next event, which was a book about the Kennedys, I think. But they also have a lot of other books, both fiction and non-fiction. We were standing next to the cookbooks during Vicky's talk, and it made me hungry looking at them while we were waiting for the event to start!

There were like 200 people at the Oregon tour. It was insane. I only stayed for the speaking... I would have had to wait about three hours or something to get my copy signed.
Now that I know I need a ticket, I just have to remember to stop by about two hours early to get one. XD

Spirit: She said it was one of the smaller events. There were still a lot of people there, but we only had to wait about an hour and a half for her to get through the line. We waited until the end, which is how we were able to get the pictures. I think she said that the day before, in Fairfax VA, they'd had over 500 people.

Awesome! I wish she came near me. At least the prospect of a movie is still around. I also don't understand why she would get hate mail for a rumor. And really, Zac Efron isn't that bad. He's a good actor (in my opinion) and if he was in the possible Warriors movie it wouldn't be the end of the world. Odds are if there is a Warriors movie on the horizon someone will be cast that you don't like.
