In case you haven't heard, Lloyd Alexander died today. He wrote many books, most of them fantasy, but his most famous series was The Chronicles of Prydain, which includes the Newbery Honor book The Black Cauldron and the Newbery Medal winning book The High King. There's a list of his books in Wikipedia, and here's a link to an obituary in Horn Book magazine. He was 83 years old, and his wife of 62 years died two weeks ago.
